About The Augmented Thinker
Human judgment, amplified.
It was just another ordinary evening in the summer of 2026: sleepless, bloodshot eyes, screens everywhere like I’m Lucius Fox in Batman’s basement, and fingers prompting like their very lengths depended on it.
You know. Just another ordinary evening in the age of singularity.
Somewhere deep in the madness, I came across a short article, floating through the digital ether with just a few likes. The name in particular caught my attention. The Augmented Thinker, by Ferdi.
As a recovering cyborgist who used to fantasize about morphing with machines (not anymore, I promise), I was intrigued, to say the least.
One line in particular stood out:
“AI isn’t here to replace thinking — it’s here to expose who was never thinking in the first place.”
I laughed, out loud. It was broad and blunt, but as they say, every good joke contains a little truth. And we all know those people who don't like to think.
They. Are. Everywhere.
The author is much kinder and calls them “Passive Consumers” of AI, or those that accept the first answer, copy the output, and gradually outsource more of their thinking. Don't get too high and mighty, you know we all do it.
But the second type, the “Augmented Thinkers,” they’re different. They add context, question assumptions, and keep the final decision where it belongs: with the human.
Honestly, most of us move between these two modes, sometimes in the same hour. I know I do. After all, we’re human. But that doesn’t matter.
What matters is noticing when AI is helping us think more deeply and, more importantly, when it's quietly doing the thinking for us.
That’s really what I want to explore: how we can use AI more deliberately, make better decisions, and finish meaningful work without giving up the judgment that makes it ours.
And so this publication was born. Because what fun would it be if I couldn't share what I discover with you lovely people?
After 10,000+ hours of talking to machines that have matured faster than I have, my thinking has genuinely become augmented.
The name was a natural fit.
